PGT-A (Preimplantation Genetic testing for Aneuploidy)

PGT-A (Preimplantation Genetic Testing for Aneuploidy)

Formerly known as PGS, PGT-A is a screening test for genetic abnormalities in embryos before implantation. It analyzes all 23 pairs of chromosomes using a technique called NGS (Next Generation Sequencing), which is currently the global standard for chromosomal screening. This test helps detect chromosomal abnormalities such as Down syndrome and reduces the risk of miscarriage. It is suitable for couples undergoing IVF/ICSI and is recommended for:

  • Women over the age of 35

  • Women with a history of at least one miscarriage

  • Men and/or women who have been found to carry chromosomal abnormalities

  • Couples who have previously undergone unsuccessful IVF cycles

For these reasons, women who conceive through IVF are recommended to undergo chromosomal screening of embryos (PGT-A) before embryo transfer to the uterus. Additionally, a Qualifi NIPT (Non-Invasive Prenatal Test) is recommended after 10 weeks of pregnancy to ensure the baby’s health up to the due date.
